After reviewing both products, we have decided that the winner is the Nespresso Vertuo Plus.

Why?

The Nespresso Vertuo Plus (Breville, De’Longhi) has several features that make it extremely convenient, for example, it has a 40oz water tank that is also adjustable, a very accessible capsule container and it brews coffee really fast.

But the Nespresso Vertuo Next (Breville, De’Longhi) also has several interesting features, especially regarding technology and connectivity.

For example, it has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection that allows you to update the software of your machine through your phone.

Ease of Use

First, let’s talk about how to use the Vertuo Next.

The first thing you gotta do is to fill the water tank with fresh water, then close and block the machine manually. After that, you have to turn the machine on by pressing the small button at the top (the one with a small coffee cup symbol).

Once you have pressed the button, it will start blinking for about 30 seconds, this means that the machine is heating up.

While the machine is heating up, you can adjust the size of the frontal cup support.

Now you have to wait until the small button on the top stops blinking, which means that the machine is heated and is ready to make your espresso shots.

Unlock and open the machine and insert your coffee capsule (make sure that the dome shape is at the button).

After doing that, just close the machine, lock it and press the button at the top to start the coffee-making process.

At this point, you can do two things:

1. You can leave the machine alone to finish the process automatically
2. You can stop the coffee flow by pushing the button twice

Finally, just unlock the machine and open it to automatically eject the capsule.

Now, it is time to talk about how to use the Vertuo Plus.

First of all, you have to fill the water tank with fresh water. Then, close the machine just by pressing the frontal lever downwards (It will close automatically) and press the button on the top to start heating up the machine.

The button will start blinking while the machine is heating up and this process will take around 40 seconds. Once the green light becomes steady, the machine is ready to start making coffee.

While the machine is heating up, you can adjust the frontal cup support to your desired position and place a cup of coffee big enough to ensure that the liquid won’t overflow.

Now, push the lever upwards to open your machine’s head and place a coffee capsule with the dome shape facing down and then close the machine’s head again.

After doing that, just press the superior button to start the coffee-making process.

The green light around the button will rotate quickly during the brewing process and if you want to stop the process before it is automatically finished you just need to press the button once.

When the process is done, the green light will remain steady and you just need to press the lever upwards to eject the coffee capsule automatically.

As you can see, both machines are really similar in terms of usability and they are really easy to use. With them, you can make a really good espresso cup in less than 5 minutes.

The clear winner here is the Nespresso Vertuo Plus. Why? Well, just because the process of opening the machine is done automatically.

Connectivity

The Vertuo Plus doesn’t have any kind of connectivity, the Vertuo Next does.

You can connect it to your phone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and use the Nespresso app to get access to several useful features like updating the Vertuo Next software, factory resetting it, checking the water status, and more.

After reviewing this app further, we can say that it has some useful features but they are not essential for getting the best out of your machine.

Honestly, if you don’t care about the app, you can just use it to update the software of your machine once in a while and leave it there.

Capsule Container

The capsule container in the Nespresso Vertuo Next is placed on the left side, you can just remove it manually and it has a capacity of 10 large capsules. 

Also, it is composed of 2 parts, the first part is where the capsules are stored and the second part is for depositing excess water and sediments.

Some people find the placement of the container pretty inconvenient because as it is placed on the left side, you have limited options to place your espresso machine.

It can be impossible for you to access the storage if you place the machine in a very narrow spot.

The capsule container in the Vertuo Plus is placed on the back and it can be pulled off from the back, left, and right, and also it has enough capacity for 10 large capsules.
